When you register it creates a secure area where all your information and Advice Lists are stored. When we ask the advisers to give you feedback, they need to access that secure area so each piece of advice can be mapped correctly onto the right item. We wouldn't be able to do that without you registering. We promise not to use any of your personal details in any way that you don't agree to. We know how annoying it is when people do that. If you want more information on this, please see our Terms and Conditions.
We'd love to let you have more but the List just gets too big otherwise, the screen would fall over. There's nothing stopping you making an extra Advice List, though!
How much help do you need!? We wanted a good enough number so you could really get some good views but wanted to limit the risk of spam. That's all.
No, you don't buy directly from us. Once you've got your idea fixed and settled, visit one of our partners and they'll do it all there.
We are sad to hear that! Unfortunately, though, as you didn't get the gift from us, you'll have to go back to the retailer directly to sort out a refund. Please let us know, though, as we only want the best things on our site so if something has disappointed you, or the lady in question, then we want to know why and see if we still want to carry that gift on our site.
We really hope so. We only take the minimum information we need to do our bit, so we'll never ask you for any bank or credit card details. We'll never sell or give your information to a third party - we hate it too when sites do that. Check our Terms and Conditions for full details on this one.
From lots of different places - women tell us what they think is great, we run competitions, we ask our friends and we have in-house product scouts who ferret out the best gifts that we know women will love. It's a bit of a buzz-word but basically we crowd-source ideas, which means we get lots of great ideas from lots of people and this means we know that we're getting the best, across a wide range, and so what we have will work - especially after you have Ask(ed)HerFriends!

You can create an Advice List in a couple of ways. The easiest way is just to click on any product and then say 'add to Advice List'. This will create a temporary Advice List for you (in case you haven't registered or created one before). Once you go to 'My Advice List' at the top, you'll be able to add more details about the List.

Alternatively, if you are signed in, you can click directly into 'My Account' in the top right and create an List from there. Hope this helps!

Those little checkboxes are for you to get more advice, or add new items into your Advice List, and be able to customise who you send the new List to, or what items you send out. For example, say you had five items in your List and had sent it to eight people on Facebook. You then decide you want to add another couple of items and you also want to send out the Advice List to a couple more of your girfriend's friends by email. You could do this by checking the specific items with the checkboxes. Basically they're just there to make the service even more useful for you.

We don’t let everyone rate items, that's what you have product rating sites for. All the ratings on our site are what real advisers have given to the people who asked them for advice. We think this is much better because that means someone has thought about that item, and whether the recipient will actually genuinely like it or not. It's not some random product person going in and saying all their products are great.

We know it can be hard deciding to where to start when looking for a great gift. That's why we created the Idea Map, to help you find your way. Each simple question chops down our database of products, so that when you've completed all six you get a tailored and more much specific set of ideas. Or, you've found your way, as we like to put it!

We love it when you add things from outside of our site to your Advice List! Any ideas you've got, the more personal or thoughtful the better, anything you want to get feedback on. Simply go to the 'Inspire Me' toolbar and and then click on 'got your own ideas', and complete the boxes. You need to input the Name and Description, plus you can paste in a URL if there is one or you could even upload a photo! Good luck!

The number in brackets by your Advice List is not the number of items in the Advice List, it is the number of Advice Lists you have (you can have as many as you want!). So it won't change as you add items, unless you start a new Advice List. You can easily check the number of items in your Advice List, though, by going to your account.

First and foremost, we want the gift ideas on our site to be the best we can find. Sometimes, though, we earn commission revenue if you end up buying that particular item. So you know which is which, we tag the stores that we have a relationship with as 'partner' stores. In addition, for some of the smaller boutiques, we don't charge them a commission but we do work together, for example with guest blog posts and that kind of thing. So we tag them as 'partner' stores as well.
